There are a number of views relating to this topic, however most favour the simplicity and excellent "Bang-for-Buck" results from just swapping the rockers. At just $795 they are an easily affordable and impressive power and torque upgrade for most performance enthusiasts.

Changing the Rockers on an Ecotec or Supercharged V6 is a very simple process that can usually be completed within 1 ½ hours using general hand tools and DIY Handyman knowledge as very easy to follow instructions are provided.

Removing the original rockers and installing the FIT 1.9 rockers is a straight forward exchange requiring no specialised knowledge or equipment.

Upgrading to FIT 1.9 Rockers only affects Lift, and duration at 0.50" (advertised duration), not total duration. Most importantly valve overlap remains unchanged so idle quality smoothness and refinement all remain as they are now.

High Performance Camshaft Installations:

High performance Camshaft installations may provide a marginal advantage over rocker upgrades but are usually plagued with many ill side affects such as rough idle and poor fuel economy that the average vehicle owner would rather do without.

This is mainly due to the fact performance camshafts change lift, duration at 0.50" (advertised duration) total duration, and valve overlap, leading to a loss of static operating compression at low rpm which subsequently leads to loss of sophistication and refinement of your street driven vehicle.

Typically a camshaft upgrade for the Holden V6's is a cumbersome and expensive job avg $2,200 - $2,400 !!

The usual process involves engine removal, upgrading valve springs, professional cam dial-in, timing cover seal, top end gasket set, 12 hours labour, plus the cost of the cam. After all the above, you wouldn't expect any change out of $2,200, combined with the previously mentioned side effects.

Due to the fact that the FIT 1.9's are such strong performers and so easy to install, they often are the number one choice for increased flow power upgrades.
